Using Interactive Infographics to Build Social and Civic Competences of Migrant Women

About Us

Immigration has become a ‘normal’ part of life in Europe with more and more females are migrating in search of work and education. Through the THRIVE project, we are hoping to actively bring people and cultures closer together, helping female migrants realise their true and civic and social potential through education and learning.

About Us

IO1:

THRIVE - Compendium of Interactive Infographic Integration Resources - to build key competences to support the Civic, Social and Economic integration of female migrants

The THRIVE Project will work on 3 levels providing migrant women with educational resources that will help them to:

1. Access basic services in the areas of employment, housing, education, and health

2. Access social supports and become connected with members of their local community (geographical, ethnic, cultural, religious, or other).

3. Access civic, linguistic, and cultural experiences that will build their cultural knowledge, sense of security and stability helping them to confidently engage in the host society in a manner consistent with shared notions of nationhood and citizenship

THRIVE - In Service Training Programme – a comprehensive intervention to support the continuous professional development of adult education and migrant support staff

The in-service training program aims to help VET tutors and adult educators develop necessary skills, such as intercultural awareness and understanding, tolerance, patience, and facilitation skills for managing diverse groups, in order to work with migrant students and to help them improve their language and digital skills.

Specifically, the training program provides 50 hours of training, including:
– 21 hours of face-to-face classes focusing on developing skills to support migrant women and third-country nationals to become integration leaders;
– 29 hours of self-directed online training that addresses the pedagogical and theoretical elements of the curriculum, including how to deliver training in a blended and inquiry-based learning environment.

The entire programme is divided into 5 modules, each of which addresses specific needs:

Module 1. Learning Proposal for women third country nationals – describes the objectives and activities developed with THRIVE to foster women’s empowerment and raise awareness about gender and culturally diverse language.

Module 2. Women Empowerment in Europe – identifies the “rights and equality of access to employment, housing, education and health” to improve migrant women´s capability to make connections and create networking with other private and public organisations and promote inclusion.

Module 3. Personal and Collective Well-being in intercultural communities – addresses the multicultural and socio-economic dimensions of European societies explaining the codes of conduct and generally accepted manners in the workplace and any other social environment to encourage active participation of migrant women in social groups of the host country.

Module 4. Migrant´s Civic Engagement – lists the main international and European treaties on human rights and democratic values describing values and policies of social and political movements in European countries to help improve civic engagement of migrant women.

Module 5. New learning environments – describes the different computer-based and challenged-based learning options and the main open-source software for the creation of educational infographics to help participants´ personal development and help them work in online digital environments.
